The railway station is located close to the medieval city centre, where plenty of restaurants can be found. There is major supermarket, Edeka, close to the station. There is tourist information on the market square. It is closed on Sundays.
The Elisen Park shopping centre https://www.elisenpark.de, which is close to IPP has both a grocery store, Kaufland, which is open from 7:00 to 22:00 every day but Sunday, and several restaurants, some of which stay open to 22:00 except Sunday, and many other stores. All shops in Greifswald are closed on Sundays.
Swimming in the sea is possible at Strandbad Eldena.
