      D. Brioschi (P): Addressing the impact of fishbone to core microturbulence with gyrokinetic simulations 30m

Fishbone instabilities (FBs) [1] are a class of macroscopic plasma modes which develop inside tokamaks around rational surfaces. Numerical [2] and experimental [3] results show a correlation between the development of ITBs inside tokamak plasmas and the destabilization of FBs. These studied point out the need for a self-consistent description of the interaction of FBs with plasma microturbulence, i.e. the main driving mechanism of turbulent transport detrimental for plasma confinement. Our work wants to study such and interaction through gyrokinetic simulations performed with the codes GENE [4] and ORB5 [5], including both the n=m=1 FB and the ion temperature gradient (ITG) mode branches inside the plasma. Multiscale interaction between turbulence, global FB structures and zonal flows is studied via dedicated nonlinear simulations, starting from results obtained through linear ones used to identify the ideal subset of the parameter space where all these modes are present at once.
